Our client based within the East Midlands specialise in digital print, litho and large format selling into a variety of markets.

They are currently looking to recruit a Digital Press Operator to work as a key part of the print operations team to ensure all orders are printed to the highest quality standard. Utilising the HP 12000 and Xerox presses to ensure all print is produced to agreed daily targets on time in full. Minimise machine downtime and stoppages so that productivity can be maximised. Carry out all essential preventative maintenance when required.


  • Must be computer / IT literate
  • Minimum of 3 years of printing experience related to Digital, or Offset Printing
  • HP Indigo Operator training Certification is a plus, but not required
  • Experience and solid understanding of four colour process printing
  • Able to communicate effectively and professionally with both internal and external customers
  • Able to understand and act on verbal or written instructions
  • Able to work extra hours required to meet time sensitive deadlines when necessary and travel to off-site training if required
  • Must be technically and mechanically oriented
  • Must enjoy working in a team environment
  • Be flexible and able to adapt to a constantly changing environment
  • Be able to use their initiative to implement improved working practices
  • Must be accurate and pay attention to detail
  • Must be flexible due to role variation and peak periods during the year


  • Consistently work in a safe manner and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures where applicable
  • Efficiently operate, calibrate and maintain an Indigo HP 12000 and Xerox Presses
  • Regularly calibrates press via colour calibration to ensure excellent print quality
  • Efficiently sets up machine to maximise uptime
  • Download and Upload all Press files from various media as required
  • Read and understands work tickets to guarantee correct product is produced to quality standards and specifications
  • Identify and select correct substrates to be used for the specific jobs
  • Communicate with Production Manager regarding any discrepancies
  • Loads correct material into press
  • Monitors print quality while machine is in production
  • Make decisions regarding quality, colour control and colour standards
  • Complete quality checks to ensure product meets all physical and visual requirements
  • Complete necessary paperwork and records
  • Carry out troubleshooting of equipment, making minor adjustments, completing basic repairs, as well as carrying out daily / weekly preventive maintenance
  • Notify Lead Press Operator when equipment needs repair
  • Open service calls with HP Technical Team as necessary
  • Keep pressroom clean and organised
  • Operates material handling equipment to move loads in and out of work area
