We are now recruiting for a full time, permanent Flexographic Printer to join our existing team, working on a three-week rotating shift system.
East Riding Sacks Limited is the largest paper sack producer in the United Kingdom and one of the major sack producers in Europe supplying flour, agriculture, cement/building products, minerals & food industries.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Setting up and printing high quality designs up to 8 colours onto paper
- Maintain a high level of quality, accuracy, and productivity to ensure efficient day to day running of wide web CI flexographic printing press
- Ensure that press speeds are optimised, maximising uptime and minimising downtime. Continually checking on safe and efficient operation
- Ensure that customers’ requirements are always met
- Ensure the safety of people, the environment and that our products are not compromised
- Take a pro-active approach to ensure the print machine runs smoothly; observe the process and spot any issues that may arise, assess, evaluate cause and use problem-solving skills to correct and rectify
- Follow an appropriate trouble shooting process and escalate maintenance issues
- Maintain good housekeeping on the press and surrounding areas
- Maintain stock levels of all necessary materials to fulfil the shift efficiently
- Dealing with water-based inks
- Have the experience and knowledge to provide support and training to any new starters or personnel
- Be responsible for basic maintenance and cleaning of print machinery
- Ensure a comprehensive handover is carried out after every shift
- Ensure an awareness and adherence to the Company’s, Quality, Health and Safety, and Environmental Policies and Procedures.
- Maintain strict adherence of the Company Hygiene Policy and Procedure.
Principal Knowledge/Abilities/Skills Required:
- Previous experience of flexographic print
- Experience with F&K, Bobst, or Allstein machines is highly desirable
- Awareness of the BRC Code of Practice
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work as part of a team and have excellent communication skills
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Ability to problem solve and remain calm
- Manage and deal with change in a fast moving and demanding environment whilst maintaining standards set within the business
- Contribute to the continuous improvement activity within the company
- Knowledgeable and able to understand a computer and relevant programs
- Understanding of relevant Quality Control Procedures, Health & Safety and Product Safety Requirements and Material Specifications
- Thorough understanding of printing process, its control and materials used in the printing process
- Aptitude for reading proofs, artworks and sample sacks
- Ability to supervise others
- Competent in verbal, written communication and reading
- Excellent numerical ability
- In-house training is provided in accordance with a separate training programme for this job
Qualifications/Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience of flexographic print
The starting hourly rate is £17.00 during training. After completion of 3 months training the hourly rate will increase to £18.62 (£46,475 per annum)
Hours of Work: 6:00am to 6:00pm and 6:00pm to 6:00am (12 hour shifts on a three-week rotating system)
