The successful candidate will assist the Senior Management Team in working towards a positive Health & Safety culture within the site, using Best Practice Health & Safety Management.
The key focus of this role will be to ensure compliance with legislative requirements. The role will manage and develop the Health, Safety and Environmental function of the business to ensure that it has the right skills, processes, materials, information and procedures to consistently meet; legislative requirements, customers’ requirements, and the standards established by formal management systems (e.g. ISO 14001 / ISO 9001 / ISO 50001 / OHSAS 18001 and BRC).
o Be the appointed responsible person for HSE issues within the site, providing support specialist advice on safety, health and environmental issues to all staff.
o Support the Operations Manager in developing the annual HSE Plan and ensure that objectives and targets are monitored monthly.
o Identify areas of risk, developing measures to reduce and control.
o Assist in developing procedures and guidance, ensuring the site is fully compliant and employees fully understand compliance to HSE rules
o Ensure all accidents, incidents, near misses and property damage are appropriately reported and investigated whilst assisting Managers in continually improving on safety targets.
o Arrange regular meetings with the Safety Committee to discuss HSE performance and progress.
o Ensure HSE data is recorded and analysed to assess ay trends
o Drive a safety improvement culture, ensuring that all employees are engaged and participative in this process.
o Act as management representative for the sites management systems
o Identify any HSE training needs
o Ensure housekeeping is to highest possible standards for your area of responsibility and where possible improve

o BRC interaction experience, and understanding of ISO standards, eg: 14001 / ISO 9001 / ISO 50001 / OHSAS 18001
o Experience providing hands on training
o Experience in Management Systems
o Excellent presentation skills
o Strong numerical & verbal skills, and experience in handing information
o Fully IT literate
