OPERATIONS MANAGER - CARTONS

WORKING HOURS: 39 HOURS - Flexible but will predominantly be Mon-Fri 9am to 5pm, there will be a requirement for the successful candidate to regularly meet the night shift who start at 6pm.

Products include flexo & digital printed self-adhesive & in-mould labels, sleeves, packaging, cartons, premium decoration, creative design, and branding. They are currently looking to recruit for an experienced and hands on Operations Manager to join their department to grow their lined board business forward. You will be responsible for the planning and management of the manufacturing process whilst also overseeing the customer service, procurement, quality and despatch functions.
The ideal candidate will show strong leadership skills and have a proven track record in managing teams and resources to optimise operational processed whilst driving efficiency. You will be required to have a knowledge of Health & Safety practices and BRC compliance will be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to and implement Health and Safety policies
- Manage and develop all employees, including task allocation, absence, performance, grievances, and training
- Promote cross-departmental collaboration and foster a "one team" culture
- Ensure efficient utilisation of resources
- Manage the repair and routine maintenance of machinery
- Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives to aid operational performance and improve profitability
- Manage the production schedule
- Implement quality control standards to ensure customer deliveries meet quality standards
- Purchase materials, plan inventory, and oversee warehouse efficiency
- Manage strategic supplier partnerships, ensuring their compliance with the company's needs and demands
- Provide technical support to customers and within the wider business as required
- Support the Business Unit Director to delivery strategic projects
- Ensure that BRC standards are maintained and assist with audits as required
- Oversee the customer service department and assist CAD with the management of production tools
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in production management
- IT Proficient, including MS Office and some familiarity with ERP systems
- Full Clean Driving Licence
- Excellent communication skills and direct people management experience
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours
- Able to demonstrate analytical skills and financial acumen
- Planning / Commercial / Supply Chain experience
- Awareness and knowledge of Health and Safety and BRC Regulations
- Experience of food packaging
- Direct knowledge of carton-board
