Job Description

Working for one of the worlds leading food brands as a Packaging Technologist you will be  responsible for supporting the operation with its packaging requirements which includes the production and distribution of new packaging, developed as a result of an innovation project; and delivering the ongoing packaging requirements of the day-to-day operations.
 
  • You will need to manage your time effectively, to ensure all deliverables in line with agreed timescales and quality. 
  • Brief packaging suppliers on changes to existing packaging formats and platforms.
  • Take packaging concepts and designs from the Packaging Designer (Singapore Innovation Hub) or Packaging Lead (UK Innovation Hub ) and develop them to meet the needs of the operations, ensuring compliance to the relevant regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal colleagues on a variety of operational projects / workstreams, providing technical packaging solutions that are fit-for-purpose, cost effective and deliver brand values and operational efficiencies, ensuring agreed timescales adhered to.
  •  Develop detailed technical specifications that allow key stakeholders to deliver the company’s standards and requirements.
  •  Produce mock-ups and functional prototypes using in-house packaging lab equipment.
  •  Work with the Supply Chain Team to source cost-effective packaging solutions at scale. Liaise with Supply Chain Team to identify, plan, develop and source packaging materials as required.
  •  Co-ordinate packaging trials and testing programs with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  •  Support the Packaging Lead with the maintenance and upkeep of the packaging lab equipment.
  •  Build and manage relationships with packaging suppliers, external agencies and printing firms, to maintain packaging technical knowledge and up to date awareness of industry development

 

  • Educational Qualifications & Experience 
  •  Degree in Engineering / Packaging / Product Design or similar desirable but not essential • Diploma in Packaging Technology (Level 5) an advantage
  •  3 + years’ experience as a Packaging Technologist
  •  Experience across a range of packaging materials, processes and manufacturing methods
  •  Experience working with packaging for food or FMCG brands preferred 
  •  In depth knowledge and understanding of legislative requirements for packaging and waste
  •  Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships
  •  Strong organisational and project management skills, able to deliver outcomes on time, in a fast paced and complex environment.
