Hours: 8am - 5pm Monday to Friday

Our client are market leaders in the manufacture and installation of signage and related products, such as sign posts and lights. They have been established for 40 years and are currently recruiting for a Sign Maker to join their team.

The main purpose of the Sign Maker is to assist in the production of road traffic signs to the highest possible standard in-line with timescales set. This may be in the layout, street name plate, metal or print room areas of the factory.


  • The production of road traffic signs in-line with customer requirements and road traffic sign regulations
  • Ensure that all activities are finished in accordance with the planning / database schedules and to the required quality levels
  • Ensure that all work is carried out in-line with health and safety procedures
  • Ensure that all equipment and machinery is used in-line with company procedures and as per training provided
  • Report any faults in equipment and / or machinery to appropriate supervisor immediately
  • Other ad hoc duties as directed by your Line Manager
  • Cutting and shaping of sheet metal to produce a sign to correct design requirements and to a high standard
  • Complete and sign off final metal inspection ensuring that the design requirements have been met
  • To layout road traffic signs to the highest possible standard to ensure a quality product
  • To finish the sign face in the time allotted as per the planning database
  • Weeding out of excess material to produce the sign faces
  • Prepare signs and layout to ensure the sign face matches the backing plate
  • Roll out the sign face onto the backing plate to ensure a smooth and complete finish
  • Trimming up of the sign face to remove excess material
  • Complete final inspection of the finished product
  • Cutting, drilling and routing of plastic fitments to produce signs to the correct design requirements
  • The assembly and riveting of signs to meet required specifications
  • Complete final inspection of the finished product
  • Printing and cutting laminates and vinyl
  • Cutting of sign faces on the vinyl cutter
  • Carrying out conversions and transferring design drawings to printed format
  • Wrapping signs ready for dispatch when required
