Job Description

DS Smith Northampton is now seeking a highly performing Site Operations Manager to be responsible for the management, motivation and development of the Operational Teams.

 

The role will see the successful individual take full operational accountability for Operations team including Manufacturing, Planning & Despatch, Engineering, Continuous Improvement including Quality & Waste) as well as having line management responsibility and working with the internal teams to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Operational functions. You will also be responsible for supporting and liaising with other functions within the business to meet and exceed the needs and requirements of our customers on a daily basis resulting in the business objectives and service goals being continuously achieved.

Key Responsibilities

 

 

  • Implement, fully deploy and lead all management processes and procedures to ensure a safe working environment is developed and maintained.

  • Support the Regional Manager in all aspects of running the plant, and assist in the organisation of all teams.

  • Train, coach and develop staff to ensure the required level of skill and flexibility is in place to achieve production plans consistently and deliver continuous improvement.

  • Monitor and control team performance, providing feedback as required, to ensure staff are focused and motivated to achieve the required targets and standards.

  • Maintain and develop communications to ensure employees know the information required to do their jobs and how their efforts contribute to the success of the production plan as a whole.

  • Monitor and review key process measures to ensure the product is produced to the correct quality standards and schedule.

  • Develop and maintain a people plan for the area of responsibility, selecting and recruiting staff to ensure that the required numbers of people are available and opportunities for succession are optimised within the team and operation.

  • Establish, develop and maintain effective working relationships, providing reward and recognition to support good performance, feedback on underperformance and fair disciplinary action for unacceptable performance to achieve and maintain a high-performance culture.

  • Lead the development and maintenance of a positive industrial relations climate through the full application and deployment of company policies and agreements, addressing issues promptly through consultation, negotiation and application of the grievance handling procedure.
