Our client is a manufacturer and supplier of new and used Timber Pallets who have been established for over 50 years, a family run business who is looking to strengthen their sales team to push the business forward.

Our client is looking for a Business Development Manager who will focus on the generation of new business covering the North of England selling into a range of market sectors such as industrial, agriculture, food, packaging and chemicals. This role is a primary focus on securing new business and securing new customers for both new and used pallets.

This role is very much a sales development / new client acquisition role. Most of your time will be spent on the road,attending meetings to identify and develop new customer accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will be reporting directly to the Managing Director
  • Research and identify potential customers
  • Plan and develop sales approaches and deliver presentations
  • Create & implement a sales plan to maximise sales and deliver excellent customer service
  • Be comfortable undertaking cold calling and follow up to make your own appointments
  • Prepare proposals, quotations and close deals
  • Adopt a consultative approach and develop solutions for customers
  • Maintain sales administration using CRM (Capsule) to follow up leads and enquiries


  • Ideally a previous background within the pallets industry
  • Experience B2B sales professional with the ability to build strong relationships
  • Ability to demonstrate a track record with a similar new business/client acquisition role
  • Effective negotiator with strong communication skills and influencing skills
  • Computer literate for the usual MS Office products
  • Ability to have effective presentation skills
